Park Hill Golf Course operator files suit, posing a new complication for discussions about the land’s future

Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation Posted on July 11, 2018 by MaggieDecember 23, 2018

Arcis’ lawsuit accuses Clayton of breaching its lease after it asked to match the city’s offer last fall, and it seeks a court order allowing it to do so. It says that Arcis asked Clayton on Nov. 28 for a written notice outlining the city’s offer and to give Arcis 30 days to agree to those terms.

Park Hill Golf Club extends its lease for five years, disrupting plan to develop land

Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation Posted on June 27, 2018 by MaggieDecember 23, 2018

This week, Arcis said that it would extend its lease on the land for five years, according to the landowner. The lease was set to the expire at the end of this year, but Arcis has taken the option to extend it until 2023.

“The golf course land continues to be an asset of the Clayton Trust and its revenue helps support Clayton Early Learning’s mission to improve early care and education during the critical first five years, especially for children living in communities of limited opportunity. Arcis’ decision does not change our mission and we will continue our work educating Denver’s children,” read a written statement provided by Clayton’s public relations firm.

Community Forum Regarding the Future of the Park Hill Golf Course Land

Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation Posted on February 27, 2018 by MaggieOctober 31, 2019

SEE THE FORUM HERE

The open space future of the Park Hill Golf Course (PHGC) land could soon be in jeopardy. The PHGC is located east of Colorado Boulevard between 35th and 40th Avenues
Clayton’s PHGC lease with the golf course operator could terminate on December 31, 2018 if the operator fails to exercise its 5-year renewal option by June 30, 2018. If the golf course lease terminates, Clayton is expected to ask the City to relinquish the open space protections of the 1997 conservation easement and the 2000 agency agreement and allow rezoning and development of all or a portion of the land.

39th Avenue Greenway, Park Hill Golf Course

Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation Posted on January 7, 2018 by MaggieDecember 23, 2018

Initially, the city planned to purchase the entire Park Hill course for more than $20 million from Clayton Early Learning, the nonprofit that controls the land. The possibilities included developing part of the land for affordable housing. That hasn’t worked out.

Instead, the city is now moving to forcibly buy the right to use part of the land, while still keeping the golf course possible to operate. But the question of whether or not the land really would stay as open space was a central concern on Tuesday night.

Espinoza said he worried that the deal was set up in a way that could let Clayton out of the long-standing agreement that prevents development on the land, and he called for the council to take a closer look.

View Of The Golf Course

Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation Posted on January 3, 2018 by MaggieDecember 23, 2018

Take away that space and you’re taking away something sacred we’re quickly losing – our connection with the earth, the community, and the importance of play. Spaces to calm our busy minds in, to let go in the warm sun, to enjoy stunning snow peaked mountain views and crisp fresh air. Spaces that teach vision, confidence, action, follow through, and consistency.
