Letter From Cole Storm Water Working Group To Mayor Hancock

it has become more clear to us over the past weeks that Stormwater initiative is inextricably linked to myriad major redevelopment and infrastructure projects taking place under the North Denver Cornerstone Collaborative, namely the National Western Center and the Interstate 70 Reconstruction / Expansion projects. It is our belief that the Stormwater initiative in the Lower Montclair Basin needs to be taken back to the drawing board and redeveloped to eliminate the current environmental and community impacts that would be felt in either Alternative 1 (Open channel with detention in Cole neighborhood) or Alternative 2 (open channel with detention in City Park Golf Course).

Neighbors worry Denver flood control project could result in destruction of their homes

What if the city forced you to sell your house for a project it promises would prevent disastrous flooding? It’s a threat for as many as 50 homeowners in one of Denver’s oldest neighborhoods.

The controversy is in the heart of the Cole neighborhood just south of the coliseum.

For four years Warren Karberg has called his house near East 38th Avenue and High Street home. “My neighbor here is second generation here. On both sides of me is the same family,” said Karberg.

INC Partners With Cole Neighborhood Association for Schools Supplies Drive

Denver’s Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation’s (INC) Charitable Works Committee will partner with the Cole Neighborhood Association for a school supplies drive event to benefit four schools in the Cole and Clayton neighborhoods.  Schools: Cole Wyatt Academy, Cole Arts Academy, Harrington Elementary, and Pioneer Charter School.  In order to receive the supplies the parent must accompany children and show the free summer lunch verification. … Continue reading →

Dollar Dictionary Evolves into new INC Charitable Works Committee

In 1995, INC created a program called the Dollar Dictionary Drive to augment the education process of young Denver residents.
