INC PARC Meeting Notes June 19, 2018

Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation Posted on June 21, 2018 by MaggieJune 21, 2018

Removing City Council from vote on DPR park use issues seemed easy a few years back, but putting the vote back in City Council is harder. Still, it is a necessary move, to give citizens a local elected voice. INC and PARC & ZAP are persevering. Also the public needs to know details on park budget expenses.

Proposed dedicated parks tax floated by CM Jolon Clark. Clark’s proposal would increase the city’s sales tax rate by 0.25 percent, or 2.5 cents per $10 purchase. That would bring the effective sales tax to 7.9 percent on regular purchases.

Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation Posted on May 23, 2017 by MaggieJuly 2, 2017

LORETTA HEIGHTS

This resolution passed with the INC delegation. If acted upon this purchase could provide additional park land for an area under served and also help to provide relief for other regional parks.
POPUP PARK
pop-up park starts in June on 21st Street between Larimer and Lawrence streets. This appears to be further evidence that Denver requires more parks and open space for their residents. This will be in cooperation with Down Town Denver.

VIDEO KUSA- It’s called Evergreen Hill — a landscape design added on to Washington Park about 100 years ago.

“We normally would’ve been in the dark here, almost, you know in the middle of the day. It was so shady in here,” said Sonia John, with Friends and Neighbors of Washington Park.

A 2010 report done for Denver Water by landscape consultants found high concentrations of sodium around trees in Denver Parks, which is irrigated with recycled water.
