Proposed Denver Post Resolution

Denver INC affirms its support for local journalists at The Denver Post and the critical work that they do in gathering and disseminating news for local and state residents to be informed in a timely manner about matters of local importance.

Denver INC urges Alden Global Capital and Digital First Media to (1) reinvest profits to support the long-term future of The Denver Post and daily news-gathering functions in the Denver metropolitan area as well as the state; and (2) immediately double or triple the number of local journalists at The Denver Post to ensure that all local news stories are covered and reported daily.

INC PARC RESOLUTION FOR MAY DELEGATE MEETING

INC PARC will introduce a resolution concerning Park Hill Golf Course at the May 2018 meeting. The resolution calls upon the public officials of the City and County of Denver to take all actions necessary to preserve the perpetual Park Hill Gold Course (PHGC) land open space conservation easement protections that the City acquired in 1997 from Clayton for $2 million

Resolution to Amend the Zoning Code to Provide Zoning of Parks

It is Resolved by Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation Zoning and Planning:

We request City Council to amend the Zoning Code such that OS-A land is
subject to community-inclusive zoning control processes similar to other zoning
classifications and under the authority of City Council and commit to take no action in
Council to bring forth a bill in this matter until a meaningful community engagement
process has been completed.

INC’S SECOND RESOLUTION RE: DENVER’S ACQUISITION OF PARK HILL GOLF COURSE

Whereas, on September 21, 2017, a complicated proposed contract between Denver and Clayton was publicly released (likewise on the INC website) that, among other things, would divide the 155 acres of Park Hill Golf Course into 2 parcels – 50% of the property that would be sold in fee title directly to Denver for $10 million (Art. 2) and the remaining 50% that would be “leased” to Denver (Art. 3.1) but also subject to potential sale to third parties depending on the outcome of a “Visioning / Master Plan” process (Art. 7); and

PRESS RELEASE :DEM PARTY RESOLUTION REGARDING PLAN TO EXPAND I70

Monday, October 16, 2017, various citizen-plaintiffs offered a flurry of filings in two cases related to the project. In a federal case asserting the Colorado Department of Transportation (“CDOT”) and the Federal Highway Administration’s (“FHWA”) failure to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act, a plaintiff group led by developer Kyle Zeppelin responded to CDOT and FHWA’s motion to dismiss their case, offering sworn statements of two sitting Denver City Council members to rebut a statement offered by City Engineer Lesley Thomas that Denver will proceed with its controversial “Platte to Park Hill” drainage project—which the plaintiffs assert is directly tied to the I-70 expansion—even if CDOT is enjoined from paying the $60 million it has committed to contributing to that project.
